On Aug 14, 2021, a 7.2 earthquake struck the southern region of Haiti, causing over 2,000 fatalities and destroying thousands of buildings.
Haiti needs our help. While it’s only a 2-hour flight from the wealthiest nation in the world, Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, is a world away. And yet, the people of Haiti are rich in resilience and faith.
The Church in Haiti has served as the main social safety net, meeting the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of the community. A recent New York Times article observed, “For many Haitians, their only source of aid throughout their lives, in the absence of strong government institutions, has been the church.”
