#BeTheBridge Financial Assistance Donations
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
We are in a moment of challenge and controversy unlike any of us have seen in our lifetimes. The novel coronavirus, an unseen foe, has attacked our bodies, our society and our livelihoods. New York City has been hit particularly hard.
New York City
As of March 24, 2020, New York City residents make up 30% of the coronavirus cases in the United States and 7% of all the cases worldwide. Brooklyn, where Bridge Church is located, currently makes up 30% of all the cases in the City. The unique reality of having the highest population density in the nation (28,000 per square mile) makes social distancing, one of the most important tactics in slowing the spread, a unique challenge.
The need for social distancing has literally shut down businesses and stifled our economy in ways that many in our community are feeling right now. Already those in our church have expressed needs with basics such as groceries and rent. And the worse is yet to come. Every three days the number of diagnoses in New York City is doubling, as is the financial impact to those in our church and our community.
In the midst of this crisis, when protecting ourselves and others by staying at home is critical, many wonder how to take a stand. What can I do? The Bridge Church launched the #BeTheBridge Financial Assistance Fund so that we can stand a gap for those who are in need. You can #BeTheBridge by sending financial support and God’s love to those hardest hit by this crisis and those struggling with COVID-19.
Whether you make New York City your home or not, whether you have $10,000 or $10, would you consider contributing to the #BeTheBridge Financial Assistance Fund so we can offer resources to those in need? Use for the form below to donate to the #BeTheBridge Financial Assistance Fund. 100% of your donation goes to those in need. We have a faith goal of raising $75,000 so we can support those around us. We speak with each person who applies for assistance to offer spiritual support, as well as financial support. Your prayers and finances can make the difference between someone having groceries or not. This is our time of challenge and controversy. Will we, like Dr. King stated, stand in the gap for those in need during crisis and challenge? Will you help us #BeTheBridge?
